Following in the footsteps of international acts like Andrea Bocelli and Il Divo, soprano Valencia Vas thought classical music and opera singing wasn't all her voice was meant to sing. After completing her formal classical studies and touring for some time, she realized 'classically rooted' popular songs could also be part of her repertoire. Now, appearing at The Coffee Gallery Backstage, one of Southern California's most intimate & cozy stages, Vas will be performing many different tracks from her new album recorded with Providence Records. The debut single When The Sun Comes Up is just one of the many songs Vas will be performing the night of Friday April 25th for her audience. In the beautiful single, When The Sun Comes Up, Valencia Vas created a heartfelt song that elegangly crosses over from the classical into more pop territory while still paying homage to her roots while at the same time allowing the artist to create her own rules as an interpreter. For one night only at the Coffee Gallery Backstage, Valencia's show will most likely sell out so make sure you reserve your tickets sooner rather than later. And when you're there, thank Bob Stane for maintaining such a cool hang out where countless alternative acts have made their mark to the delight of the local crowd. If you asked me, alternative holes-in-the-wall have a function similar to that of families: they are the glue that keeps society together. Won't you do your part so our already frayed society lingers together a bit longer? Now, minus the socio-anthropological slant, here's just the bare facts: Valencia Vas performs @ The Coffee Gallery Backstage 2029 N. Lake Altadena, Ca. 91001 Friday, April 25th, 8pm Phone: 626.398.7917
