If Google Maps could pick up sound as their satellite passes overhead, they would record an ear pleasing hum coming from 1834 Franklin Street. The unassuming warehouse tucked away in a corner of Santa Monica is full of artists at work and there is not a more distinctive sound and rhythm than that of brush on canvas, charcoal on paper, chisel on stone, the turn of a clay modeling wheel and on and on as the process of making art goes. Once a year, almost every year in the studio's 22 year history, the volume of that hum increases for a time as the artists get ready for the annual open house. The 2007 Santa Monica Fine Arts Studios Opening Reception is Saturday, November 17, 6 - 9pm followed by an Open House on Sunday, November 18, from noon to 5pm. D.J. Sooze will spin for the crowd at the opening reception on Saturday, November 17. The group silent auction held each year draws a great deal of interest. Participating artists receive an 8" x 8" wood panel to create a special art work that is hung in the lobby area with all the others. Bidding starts at $25.00 on Saturday and ends on Sunday at 4:30pm. Winning bidders are contacted if not present at the close. The open house offers the unique opportunity to see a rich mix of styles, skills, techniques and media all under one roof. During both days of the open house many artists will be available to talk about their work. If they are selling, they will have a price list. Some artists offer selected pieces in their own private silent auctions. DETAILS OPENING RECEPTION Saturday, November 17, 6 - 9pm SANTA MONICA FINE ART STUDIOS 1834 Franklin Street
