Who doesn’t love a good conspiracy?

Robert Ludlum, Tom Clancy and John Le Carre would be in trouble without an endless variation of this old literary trick.

And yet, not even these mighty authors can compete with Hollywood conspiracies. Here, you have glamour upon glamour. These type of conspiracies are almost as good as an orgasm.

Few conspiracies –and this country has become a religious zealot when it comes to them- rise to the level of Marilyn Monroe’s mysterious death conspiracy. Perhaps only her ex’s, JFK and pope John Paul the first, surpass her own.

It doesn’t help matters that when multitudes adore a mortal, that mortal tends to be rather quickly immortalized. Via sanctification –either the catholic or the Hollywood/Icon type-, human lives rapidly lose their grounded perspective and all sorts of speculations feed into the populus, then take a life all of their own and boom!, another conspiracy theory to keep track of.

If you thought nothing else could be added to Marilyn’s conspiracy theory, you haven’t heard yet: at the ghost-ridden Queen Mary, starting November 11^th, 2005 until February 18^th, 2006, the Marilyn Monroe exhibit will debut in Los Angeles to the delight of conspiracy buffs everywhere.

Comprised of literally hundreds of Marilyn Monroe’s personal objects, (dresses, bathing suits, empty perfume bottles and a personal 60 doll collection) the exhibit goes a bit further: it intends to add its own controversy to an issue that won’t die. How, you may ask? Well, an entire section of the exhibit is dedicated to document the relationship and love story between Marilyn and one time husband Joe Dimaggio. So, you may ask?

For those interested in conspiracies, there is something puzzling that Marilyn herself told June DiMaggio, Joe’s niece, the day that she passed away. For the media preview of this event, June herself (along with Hugh Hefner from Playboy magazine, John Miner, former Deputy Chief prosecutor and Mark Roesler, CEO of CMG Worldwide) will be on hand to answer questions.

The exhibition features an extensive list of objects from the private collection of Robert W. Otto, President and CEO of Marilyn Monroe Exhibits. Mr. Otto is renowned worldwide as an international collector, curator and historical expert on America’s foremost icon, Marilyn Monroe and has been collecting Marilyn artifacts and belongings for almost 40 years. By far, his collection is one of the most thorough and extensive available anywhere.

“This collection is so spectacular that just putting it in some museum would have been a great injustice. It needed a home that shares some of the same qualities that Marilyn herself exhibited: Elegance, Class, Sophistication, Grandeur and Glamour.  That place, unequivocally, is the Queen Mary,” said Robert Otto.

The objects displayed are part of a collection of approximately 3000. Almost every aspect if Marilyn’s life has been captured and detailed in this exhibit and of course, to the delight of those interested in her mysterious death… there’s that other interesting piece of evidence uncovered at Marilyn’s autopsy…
