Steve's Side

We are sold out!

It's obvious that marketing and networking is on the minds of ALL Chamber members, judging by the outstanding turnout of member/vendors that have signed up to exhibit at the Culver Expo '03 for Your Home and Business.  We all know that marketing and networking are two of the most important parts of business and over 115 fellow members of the Culver City Chamber will be taking care of business with table top displays at our June 27th event.

I believe that we are coming out of our national recession and that next year we will be smiling about rising sales and profits that always come with a Presidential Election year.  The President and Congress both have something to gain from a growing economy and we will benefit also.  With the changes in Presidential Primaries moving earlier and earlier every presidential election, California may not play a major role in choosing the national candidates once again.  We need to reexamine that method in which we select our candidates for the General Elections in the coming years.

Locally, on the state level there seems to be a movement that is growing for a recall election of Governor Gray Davis.  I believe that it is important that you look at all the issues in this movement to decide whether to support or oppose this recall.  A recall sends messages throughout the nation that will have implications for the states' economy and perceptions.  While I will not take a stand in this column, I urge you to stay informed on the subject.

Working for a better Culver City,

Steven Rose

President

THE COMPETITIVE EDGE HOSTS MEET AT PLUNGE

Stop by the Plunge June 28th  29th for good food, great community interaction, and excellent swimming!  The Competitive EDGE Swim Team, now over 50 members strong, is hosting its first major swim meet.  Sixteen Culver City youths will be competing toward Junior Olympic status against several surrounding area teams.  Stop by for breakfast, lunch or a snack to support local business and our community's children.

   Dear Barbara,

Only 7 days until the fun starts at our Culver Expo for Your Home and Business on the 27th!  Whether you're one of our many interesting exhibitors or an interested attendee, we're sure you'll have a good time! Be sure to stop by the Chamber table and say hello.

Due to the Culver Expo, we will not be having our monthly Business After Hours Mixer this month.

Dodgers, Dodger Dog and Drink

August 22, 2003 is set for "Culver City Night at Dodger Stadium," when the Dodgers will take on the Montreal Expos. The Chamber is sponsoring this in coordination with the Fiesta La Ballona Days.

$10.00 gives you a ticket, a Dodger Dog and a drink to enjoy along with your friends and family.

You can join Mayor Alan Corlin, Chamber Chair Dan Maydeck and Steven Rose on the field by selling the most tickets in our group for that evening.  Enjoy a special treat and get introduced to the crowd at the stadium.

Call Steve Rose at 310-287-3850 or click on the link below to email Steve for further information.

Getting EXPOsed
100,000 Business Leads to be Generated

Only 7 days until Culver Expo for Your Home and Business!  Our booths are sold out, but you can still plan to attend what's become known as the largest networking event in the city, held at The Culver Studios on Friday, June 27th, from 4:00-8:00 p.m.  Whether you come as one of our many featured exhibitors or as an attendee, it's sure to be time well spent!

Every year we have over 100 exhibitors -- and this year is no exception -- representing a wide range of businesses and professions. It's a chance for our Chamber members to interact face- to-face with a highly interested group of people in a fun and relaxed outdoor setting.

Many community members plan their dinners around the Expo. What could be better than getting a taste of some of Culver City's best restaurants while listening to the sounds of The Mills Brothers; visiting with a variety of Culver City's businesses; seeing and being seen by other Culver Cityites; and maybe picking up a few freebies along the way, too.
