It’s a gamble how the Lakers will finish this season, on Thursday all bets were on.  The  first annual Palms Casino Royale Casino Night was held to benefit the LA Lakers Youth Foundation. The Barker Hanger at Santa Monica airport welcomed   players and celebrities that were on hand to gamble for a good cause.  All the proceeds go directly to the foundation which benefits over 30 charities that provide education, medical care and school activities for at risk youth.

The Lakers are always giving off the court.  From Thanksgiving deliveries, readings at schools, donating and improving sports facilities and other personal charities the players start themselves The guest of honor was legendary sportscaster Chick Hearn’s widow  Marge Hearn, who recently implemented a scholarship in Chick’s memory last fall. "It all goes to the Lakers Youth Foundation...everything they ask me to do I do, so that I can keep his spirit alive."

Guests were invited to play “Dr. Buss’ Poker Pit Challenge, view high-end lingerie show by La Perla, and gourmet cuisine.   Laker Coach Phil Jackson hosted a cocktail reception to celebrate the luxury automobile, the Maybach, and to preview jewelry from Sotheby’s Salon Prive'.

Many of the players looked forward to gambling for a good cause, and time to regroup before hitting the court. "I'm looking forward to getting some of my money back from one of my teammates, so what I've lost on the plane I hope to win tonight," said Rick Fox.

Win, lose, or draw there is one main winner….the youth of Los Angeles.
