'GROVER'S CORNER' RECEPTION AT LONG BEACH PLAYHOUSE

Long Beach Playhouse Honors Local Philanthropist with ‘Grover’s Corner’

LBPH recognized the contributions of theatre benefactor Dr. Frances S. Grover with a ‘Grover’s Corner’ themed reception on January 31, 2010, before a special performance of Thornton Wilder's classic play ‘Our Town’.

We are honoring a wonderful performing arts philanthropist,” stated Long Beach Playhouse Executive Director, Joan Van Hooten. Dr. Grover, a retired neurosurgeon and UCLA Professor, is a venerable icon within the Long Beach community. In addition to supporting the Long Beach Playhouse, she has sponsored major events for the Arts Council for Long Beach, serves as a board member for the Long Beach Community Foundation, advisor to the Long Beach Public Library Foundation, and continues her involvement with a host of other philanthropic endeavors.

The reception honoring Dr. Grover was followed by a special performance of the Long Beach Playhouse production of ‘Our Town’ attended by Dr. Grover, her friends, and supporters.

‘Our Town’ runs through 6-March at the Long Beach Playhouse MainStage theatre. For show times and tickets, please visit http://lbph.com or http://lbplayhouse.com
