Cirque de Soleil entertains at Heal the Bay Annual
Gala | but the warm volunteers and their sharing brought home the point that we all need to take an active part in the health of Santa Monica Bay.
Honored for their part were Mark Attanasio, who has rendered much assistance in obtaining financial help, Google Earth’s Ocean, which has many informative features, and artist Catherine Opie, photographer and proponent of clean oceans.
Also the founder of Heal the Bay, the late Dorothy Green was honored in a beautiful video showing her extensive efforts and life of dedication to the cause of clean waters.
Musical entertainment was provided by the Makepeace Brothers, who kept the sounds lively, and both silent and live auctions, featuring a Ford Fusion Hybrid, and many food and travel items, as well as fine art and sports items. An exciting surprise was the performing of Cirque de Soleil’s talented acts, who wowed us with amazing strength and agility. There will be future collaboration with Heal the Bay upcoming.
Heal the Bay issues its Annual Beach Report Card, which has become a guidepost as to the state of the local waters. This illustrated 88 page report is a major information source to show that we must monitor this vital resource.
